The club has a number of AGB qualified coaches who, supported by experienced archers, run beginner courses and "have a go" sessions throughout the year.
Beginners courses are suitable for anyone aged eight upwards and will cover safety, basic shooting, scoring and competition, different types of bow and archery and much more. For more information contact the Club Secretary through the Contact Us page or directly at binghamarcheryclub@gmail.com
Our next course is scheduled to start 10th June 2023
For the first 40 years of our existence we shot at Bingham Leisure Centre but in 2019, whilst continuing to shoot at the Leisure Centre, we branched out and now also shoot on the Sports Field on Dark Lane in Aslockton/Whatton, where we have level access to the shooting line and to a newly refurbished pavilion. We shoot in Aslockton on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings in the summer and, normally, twice a month on Sunday mornings throughout the winter. At the leisure centre itself we continue to shoot outdoors in the summer on Saturday afternoons and that’s also where we run our twice yearly tournaments.
Both outdoor venues allow for shooting at all competitive distances ~ 10 yards up to 100 yards / 90 metres. Whilst indoors we shoot in the main Hall at the Leisure Centre on Friday evenings which accommodate distances up to 25 metres.
In summer we shoot outdoors, weather and light permitting
The Summer Season is April to October.
Our usual sessions are:
· Monday, Wednesday and Friday evening 6.30pm to Dusk ~ in Aslockton
· Saturday afternoons 13.00-15.45 ~ at Bingham Leisure Centre
Friday evenings 7.00pm to 9.00pm indoors during September to April ~ in the main hall at the leisure centre.
We shoot a Frostbite round twice a month on Sundays 10.00am to 12.00pm outdoors at the playing field at Aslockton.
Tea and cake is almost guaranteed afterwards in the clubhouse!
On bank holidays the leisure centre may close early or not be open at all. Please check the news to see if shooting times will be affected.
Bingham LCAC is committed to giving everyone the opportunity to enjoy archery in an open and threat free environment.
We have had our own policy on Child Protection and related issues in place well before ArcheryGB. When they put in place a safeguarding policy, we endorsed and adopted their policy statements, whilst still having our own approach embedded in our club constitution. AGB's Policy is updated from time to time and is the platform we operate from. It is available on the AGB website.
All the club's coaches, regular helpers and our Child Protection Officer are DBS checked and aware of the policies we operate. Members are provided with details when they join the club but if in doubt speak to one of the coaches or any committee member and they will be happy to help out in whatever way is needed.
